Google Sheet for GB District 2022-23

Email:  Friday, June 23, 2023

Good afternoon,

I wanted to share some information with you that we established at ALC and a heads up for some things to come at conference.

New teachers to the district:

Jayson Pigg at Clarendon

Kooper Horton at Quanah

Cameron Stafford and Jamie Martin at Valley

Openings in the district:

Patton Springs

Childress- Second teacher

Groom

They might have been filled by this time, but I haven’t heard anything.

Executive committee update:

With some teachers moving out we had to fill some positions in the district, Christian Brooks at Memphis will be our vice president, and I (Justin Been, Spur) will be serving as our president.

Some dates we established are as follows:

August 29th- District Greenhand Camp in Roaring Springs, registration will end the 22nd and it will be $15 per student.

September 12th- Area Greenhand camp

September 18th- Fall Meeting in Valley

November 6th- District LDE in Memphis at 10 am

December 4th- Fall Banquet in Memphis

More information will come as it is available. If you have a district officer, I have asked them to start planning and getting ready for some of these events already. Please be sure they know their opening and closing ceremony parts, as well as keeping them on track to be preparing for the events.

MOTIONS FOR CONFERENCE:

I attached our district bylaws for you to review and to make motions to modify if needed. There are some things that need to be addressed that I can see. But please look over them and if there are any motions to be made submit them on the google form below.

https://forms.gle/FF9fdDwP7qREVmj47

If there are other motions you would like to make that are not related to bylaws, that would be a good place submit them, so they do not get looked over at conference.

According to our bylaws now, we would have to have 30 day notice and those would have to be submitted by tomorrow. Since this is coming off of camp, a Friday, and etc. would we by general consent be okay with extending that deadline to Friday, June 30? If you have a issue with extending that deadline, please contact me individually.

Redistricting:

A hot topic recently has been re districting, some of us have the potential to be moved to either Lubbock or Amarillo districts. If you do not want that and you have a better idea on how to do it, I attached a map you can draw on and submit your idea to Jay Newton. One map has current membership, and one doesn’t.  I know some say it will never happen, but just as many think it will. If you don’t want to be in those districts and you might be on the chopping block I encourage you to get involved in those conversations. If you choose not to, don’t gripe.

Matador:

Please keep matador in your thoughts and prayers. We saw the devastation on the way home yesterday and stopped to lend a hand with donations, but they will need support for a while. If you can, lend a hand. We teach service and many things require community service hours, this would be a good opportunity to haul kids to help in a place that need it. Places that were affected did not suffer from small damage. One of those was Mr. Coopers house as I am sure you have heard and or seen. Please keep him and his family in your prayers throughout this process. We are here to help if you need anything Jim.

Sorry, this was a long email! If you need anything or have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. My cell phone is 806-393-7901.

Thanks,

Justin Been
